We're starting out with one of the hottest Electro House labels at the moment: Big Fish Recordings. Big Fish is run by none other than Canadian resident, Lazy Rich. The Big Fish roster reads like a who's who of Electro House heavy hitters including Hirshee, Lucky Date, FTampa, Calvertron, Alex Mind, Darth and Vader, Dirty Loud, fRew, SpekrFreks, Fast Foot, Zedd, Porter Robinson and the list keeps growing and growing. Label Engine

It's never been easier to start your own record label thanks to UK born Canadian Resident and chart topping electro house producer, Lazy Rich. Label Engine provides users with a simple web-based interface that works on any platform. The goal of Label Engine is to provide you with everything you need to run a record label including artist management, accounting, promotion and distribution. Label Engine helps you keep track of royalties, sales and expenses. It helps you get your tracks into the hands of some of the greatest DJs in the world by giving you a template to create your own promo page, upload your MP3s to a server, and send out emails to the DJs of your choice for just $0.10 a hit. Label Engine provides you with distribution channels to get your tracks into Beatport, iTunes, Juno Downloads, Spotify and more. 

Syphon

I am a complete geek when it comes to VJ technology. I have been running Resolume Avenue for years and recently started using Serato for videos. I always wanted to be able to run my videos through Resolume so that I could add layers, effect the video, change the size, blend live video feeds with my Serato videos, etc. I tried several video capture cards to no avail. It was all just a dream until the release of Syphon.

Serato Video SL Plug-In doesn't run Syphon so I had to make the switch to Mix-Emergency. Now I can drop a simple Quartz Composer file from the Syphon forum into Resolume and my videos show up as a layer in the output of Resolume. With some creative midi mapping using Serato, Ableton and the Bridge, the entire set up is controlled from within the Serato Interface! There is no switching screens, no external processing, it's all run on 1 Macbook Pro using just 1 interface. Winning.

ECMAs Moncton 2012

This years East Coast Music Awards are being held in Moncton NB from April 11 to April 15 with events at most major venues including Oxygen Nightclub, Delta Beausejour, Plan B and more. The Urban/Rock showcases are being held at Oxygen Nightclub on Friday and Saturday nights. If you're into Hip Hop you will want to check out Oxygen on Saturday night for an all star line-up that includes DJ IV and Maestro Fresh Wes! And don't miss the Electronic showcase being held on Friday at Oxygen with artists such as Nick Bike, Dezza, and Scientists Of Sound. One event you will want to check out is the Urban Electronic (no case) Showcase on Thursday April 12 at the Aberdeen Cultural Centre in Moncton. The Urban Electronic Showcase is being hosted by Marc "Bones" Leblanc, Broken Coast and Centre Cultural Aberdeen. Some of the artists being showcased include Pineo, KDZ and Metro Housing Authority from Halifax NS, sp00nfed from Charlottetown PE, and Moncton NB locals 4-Ten, Nayles and more.
